Cross posted at Outlaw Reviews and at Shelf InflictedIn real life, so many moral, ethical, and legal complications can arise if professional and personal relationships take place simultaneously, particularly when sex becomes involved I m sure Dr Jesse Okenah, a physical therapist, violated all kinds of rules by becoming involved with his client, Wade Carter, a wounded Afghanistan veteran suffering from PTSD While this type of relationship may be frowned upon in real life, I enjoy reading about t [...]
This was a short, interesting read of a man experiencing extreme PTSD and physical pain from a leg injury But it did manage to miss the mark at every turn, mainly because the story felt rushed as the story line was only about 2 weeks long You just can t expect someone so damaged to make enough progress in that time span So, we ended up with insta love and a weak HFN.I d actually normally give a book like this 2 stars, but it gets an extra star for the awesome nightmare scene I love that shit. Can [...]
I LOVE ME A DAMAGED MAN I m not sure exactly what that says about me but probably nothing good. This is a lovely hurt comfort about a wounded soldier named Wade and the physical therapist that is able to see what a fine piece of ass he is A very sweet and hot little read.
3.5 star review by The Blogger Girls.I m a sucker for damaged heroes wounded vets, so this one called to me right away.Wade is not in a very good place He has become somewhat of a hermit, has not really dealt with his loss or his PTSD and somewhat reluctantly goes to his physical therapy sessions All of this, of course, is not helping him progress After a bit of a scuffle at one of his appointments, Dr Jesse steps in to help Wade in the absence of his current therapist.Wade is growly and snarky [...]
I was given a copy of this book free by the author in exchange for an unbised review.I liked the premise of this book Injured Vet helped to heal by doctor but I felt the book was too short and therefore the events which occured within it were a little rush and maybe not so believable For example, Wade started to walk around the block with Jesse and within a week there were noticable differences I am not an expert but that seems not long enough considering the state of his leg to start with Also [...]
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.I was excited about this story before I even started with a brother in the military I m always interested in stories about veterans and it didn t disappoint.I would have liked the story to be longer PTSD is such an extensive subject that short stories about traumatized veterans has a tendency to seem very rushed I enjoyed Frost s injured soldier, Wade, though he managed to create a character which realistically displayed PTSD b [...]
3.5 STARSI m not usually a fan of books this length but I d previously read another Hunter Frost short story, only half the length of this one actually, and I thoroughly enjoyed it So I figured I d give this one a go too As with that other book I was impressed right from the beginning, as the author threw us straight into the story with a bit of yelling and angry frustration as MC Wade is faced with a most unhelpful receptionist, who really shouldn t be allowed to interact with the public. He was [...]
Wade Carter is in a very dark place as he s unsuccessfully coping with a severe leg injury, physical pain, and a bad case of PTSD following a tour of duty in Afghanistan He lashes out in his frustration and his dark mood continues to draw him very close to the point of no return After an embarrassing exchange at one of his physical therapy appointments, Wade s salvation comes in the form of a replacement therapist who rocks his world Jesse has a true affinity for dealing with wounded vets, but W [...]
I had the privilege to read this book for free for an honest review.Let me begin with a thanks to all our Military Men and WomenThanks for all you give The book was well written and the plot is always a favorite of mine This story took you on the journey of an Army sergeant named Wade who was physically, mentally, and spiritually broken Then, he meets his fill in therapist, Jesse, and it makes him want again I honestly enjoyed the read however, it left me wanting Since I am not familiar with Hu [...]
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest reviewWade is a veteran who come home from war with a lot of physical and emotional scars He is angry, defensive, and crabby as he tries to navigate a world different than he thought he would have Jesse is a physical therapist who ends up working with Wade and gets right under Wade s skin Jesse is calm, patient, and understanding, not to mention utterly gorgeous He is the perfect person to help Wade see that life isn t always horrible He s [...]
This book was received free from the author in return for an honest review via the Don t Buy My Love program This was charming, if a bit short to adequately cover the subject matter Wade and Jesse were well drawn characters I was particularly happy with Jesse, he patience and history with his father being a military man who was killed in the line of duty made him a sympathetic character to Wade s situation The story started with great pacing, the boys meet and get to know one another during phys [...]
Original review on Molly LollyFour and a half stars Such an amazing story There is so much emotion pulled out in this story I could feel what Wade was feeling when he was in some of his dark moods, and his timid hope that things would get better I loved how Wade was very real and showed some of the darker sides of being wounded He also tells some sad truth about BA hospitals and how disabled veterans are treated when they get home Jesse is exactly what Wade didn t know he needed, right when he w [...]
Tempt number 2, wish me luck, haha lost the last reviewe gluich out.But this a amazing and wonderful story to read, I love how it show a gaya couple, but a young soldier that was seriously hurt in combat, who struggling with depression and P.T.S.D, Has one, but along comes a bubblely, care physiotherapist who want bring him back from the edge Wade and Jesse have so much emotions, you don t now to cry or laugh.I was given this story read, for honest review But I high recommend it For some who bat [...]
This was very simple nice story, I enjoyed.
PTSD END I let go, Wade said, his thumb moving in circles on Jesse s knee, and Jesse tried not to sigh You let go of what Jesse asked The fear, the control, the pride All the bullshit that kept me from taking any chances or living my life as I did before Afghanistan.
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.I really liked the premise of this book as I haven t read much dealing with ptsd and the aftermath of a debilitating injury I thought that the characters were unique and the pacing of the story was pretty spot on though things at the end felt a little on the rushed side to me It wasn t bad, I just wish the author had actually shown what Wade went through when he was on his own those last few days It almost felt as though this s [...]
I received a copy in exchange for an honest review2.5 Stars Wanted to like itI really wanted to like this Hurt comfort, soldier, medical personnel, all favorite scenarios This book should have hit quite a few of my buttons It didn t though Lets see how much I can get down that isn t to spoilerish Wade our wounded warrior is a jerk I didn t like him at all Supposedly a tough, stubborn fighter view spoiler but, he is not doing the exercises his physical therapist recommends and then is all depress [...]
This is a short story about a man learning to live with and overcome the effects of war, both physical and mental I like the premise of the story, however I found it very fast paced In a very short time one week only physical issues are improved greatly and the MC who could barely walk is up and about I would also question the doctors ethics, I m not an expert, however I would assume that physical therapists have a code of practice similar to other medical professions which frowns on them being [...]
I enjoyed the story, though as it takes place over a short period of time, Wade s about turn in his mind set has to be taken with literary license The story flowed well and was quick paced and even as a short story, kept my interest well A longer treatment would give all sorts of great angsty moments though.Wade and Jesse move quite quickly into a relationship but Wade s nightmare interupts the start of it And this is where his turn around view spoiler from talking suicide to I m going call for [...]
